Our application process is simple and straightforward. Follow the steps below to find out more.
Step 1 - Apply
Begin Your Skilled Summers Journey!
Here at Skilled Summers, we focus on recruiting experienced activity leaders and skilled specialists for our premium camps across the USA. To start, please refer to our 'Skills‘ section to see if you qualify for our programme.
Are you who we are looking for? Great! We can’t wait to hear from you. Apply by clicking 'Apply Now' below. There is no fee to do this.
The team will then be in touch to discuss your application and skills, and answer any questions you may have. If we feel you would be a good fit for the programme, we will then invite you to officially apply by beginning your application on our online system.
Your online application will involve going further into your background, specialist skills and discussing any prior experience working with children. Once completed, we will then invite you to arrange an interview with a member of our team.

Step 2 - Your Interview
Once You Have Passed Your Interview, Placement Is Guaranteed!
Your interview will take place on Zoom/Skype/Facetime (whatever works best for you). During your interview, we will refer back to your application and discuss your skills and experience in more detail.
Your interview will also give you the perfect opportunity to tell us about what type of camp you are looking for and the position you want to work in which will assist us with the placement process.
Submit your references, photos and a short video demonstrating your skills.
Make your second payment. This will allow us to submit your application to camps for consideration.
Step 3 - The Placement Process
Here's Where The Fun Begins... Let's Find Your Perfect Summer Home!
Your application will be sent to camps that have vacancies that match your skill set.
Location preference and camp type will be taken into consideration.
If a camp is interested in hiring you, you'll be invited to have an online interview with the camp director.
We want you to feel good about your placement. If the camp isn't a perfect fit, we'll match you with another one.
Step 4 - Post Placement
Congratulations! You Got Placed! Here's What's Next.
Make your final payment.
Complete your police background check (this is an important requirement for anyone working with children at camp).
Have a medical check up (to ensure you are fit and healthy to head to camp for the summer).
Attend the US embassy to obtain your J1 visa (a requirement to work at camp for the summer)
Book your flights!
Step 5 - Attend A Pre-Camp Orientation
Meet The Team & Other Participants At Compulsory Pre-Camp Orientation
Attend our compulsory pre-camp orientation and meet other Skilled Summers participants. These orientations are both online and in-person. We'll release details of each coming summer orientations around March/April.
