My journey as a Summer Camp Counsellor started flying from Amsterdam to New Your City and meeting my first camp friends from New Zealand, the Netherlands, Hungary, Mexico, Chile, Ireland, and UK!
Hello everyone! I’m Augustina, but a lot of the campers would call me “August” because it is way shorter and reminds them of the summer month! It didn’t take long to catch on but I’m happy about it as no one back home calls me this and it is now one of the many memories that remain in my mind after the summer.
The sun-kissed days, the children laughing, and the magnificence of nature all got together to make a wonderful experience as a camp counsellor at Camp Lindenmere. I am grateful for the priceless memories, lessons learned, and impact it had on both the campers and myself as I reflect on those cherished weeks.
“As the first applicant from Pakistan to the USA exchange program, I embarked on a journey that would forever change my life. The decision to apply for this program was not an easy one, but with the guidance and support of Skilled Summer, I successfully navigated the application process. Little did I know that this summer would become an extraordinary chapter in my life, filled with new experiences, friendships, and personal growth.”
My time as a summer camp counselor in America was an unforgettable experience that enriched my life in many ways. It was more than just a summer job; it was an opportunity to grow, learn, make new friends and make a positive impact on children’s lives.
Every summer, people from all over the world go to camp for a unique experience. For me, it was a journey of the unknown. As a girl from a completely different culture and background, I ventured into a melting pot of cultures. It became an extraordinary camp experience that changed my perspective on acceptance and the power of unity.
